Va. high school teacher under investigation found dead

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Potomac High School teacher who was under investigation for allegations of inappropriate contact with a minor was found dead in her home Sunday.

Prince William County police say Linda Burke, 41, died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Virginia State Police began investigating the allegations of inappropriate contact between Burke and a minor at the request of the Prince William County Police Department.

While she was being interviewed by police, Burke was accused of assaulting an officer.

Burke taught English as a second language at Potomac High School. She had been with the school system since 2003 and was on administrative leave at the time of her death.
