Prince George's man arrested at BWI for stolen gun

BALTIMORE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Prince George's County man was arrested at Baltimore-Washington International airport after trying to sneak a stolen gun past a security checkpoint.

TSA officers detected the 9mm handgun loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition in the Upper Marlboro, Md., man's carry-on bag as he was passing through the airport checkpoint, Department of Homeland Security officials said. The TSA officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine detected the handgun inside the traveler's carry-on bag as it passed along the conveyor belt. He was ticketed to fly to Detroit.

TSA officers contacted the Maryland Transportation Authority Police who responded to the checkpoint, confiscated the firearm and arrested the man. A check on the firearm determined that it had been reported as stolen in Portland, Oregon. There was no impact to airport operations.
