Police: Man threatened to set ex-girlfriend on fire

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man who they say assaulted his ex-girlfriend and threatened to set her on fire.

Officials say Erick Austin assaulted a female victim, who was his former romantic partner, on Queenstown Drive in Mount Rainer.

According to the arrest warrant, Austin would physically attack the woman every time she tried to leave her apartment.

Police say he kicked her door down and threatened to set her on fire after dousing her with oil.

Deputies found Austin at the Marvin Gaye Park in D.C. and arrested him after a short foot pursuit.

He is charged with First and Second Degree Assault.
