Man on trial in 2011 murders, attempted body burning

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Keenan Myers is on trial at the Prince George's County Courthouse for the May 2011 shooting of Sean Ellis and Anthony McKelvin. Opening statements began Wednesday morning.

Myers also allegedly assisted in attempts to cover up the murders by dousing the bodies with bleach, putting them in a car and then burning the car. Myers and Brian Mayhew did not have matches or a lighter, say officials.

Brian Mayhew was found guilty of the same charges filed against Myers last month.

Nicoh Mayhew, Brian's uncle, brought bleach and gasoline to the scene, say officials. He was going to testify against Brian Mayhew and Myers, but he was killed in December 2012. Prosecutors believe Brian Mayhew ordered a hit on his uncle to keep him from testifying.
