Man arrested for assault after punching woman, child

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Prince George's County man has been arrested for assault after an incident involving a woman and child.

Timothy Robinson, of Hyattsville, Md., allegedly assaulted a female victim, with whom he was romantically involved, by punching her in the head after breaking into her apartment in the 7400 block of Village Green Terrace in Hyattsville, officials say.

The warrant states that Robinson became upset with the victim after she told him the leave the apartment, according to officials. Robinson is also alleged to have punched a minor child when the child attempted to render aid to his mother.

Robinson was arrested at the Prince George's Hospital in Cheverly, Md., where he was being treated for self-inflicted wounds he sustained while breaking into the victims residence, according to officials. He is charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, child abuse second degree, theft less than $1,000 and two counts of malicious destruction of property.
