Child support hearing yields attempted murder arrest in PG

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man was arrested for attempted murder during a child support hearing in Prince George's County, Sheriff's officials said.

Damon Palmer, of Washington, was attending the hearing on Monday, when deputies moved in and took him to jail, Prince George's County Sheriff's officials said.

The attempted murder charge stems from an incident at the 4000 block of Murdock Street in Temple Hills, on June 16, Sheriff's officials said.

Palmer confronted another male and "…accused him of messing with his girlfriend." The verbal dispute turned physical prior to Palmer leaving the location. The warrant further states, that later that afternoon Palmer returned to the Murdock Street address with a handgun and fired several shots in the victim's direction as he answered a knock at his door, Sheriff's officials said.

Palmer faces a slew of charges including: First Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Attempted Second Degree Murder and First Degree Assault, officials said.
