Upper Marlboro day care worker allegedly slammed boy's head onto table

Police have arrested a daycare employee on charges of assaulting and abusing a three-year-old boy.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 25-year-old day care worker has been arrested for allegedly abusing a three-year-old boy in Upper Marlboro, Prince George's County police said. 

Authorities arrested D'Aira Thompson, 25, of Cheltenham, in connection with physical child abuse of a three-year-old boy at a day care center in Upper Marlboro. She is being charged with second degree child abuse, and second degree assault. 

On Tuesday morning Thompson allegedly tried to restrain the boy in a chair. She told the boy to lay his head down and then slammed his head on the table, police said. 

The young boy has a very bad bruise on his right side of his head. Police said Thompson is the boy's teacher.
