Man arrested for sex assault at Md. hotel

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Hyattsville man has been charged with second degree rape and assault after an incident at a hotel in Takoma Park, say police.

According to police, 44-year-old Misael Portillo is charged with 2nd Degree Rape, False Imprisonment and 2nd Degree Assault following a reported sexual assault at a hotel on March 3.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. that day, police say officers responded to the Econo Lodge Hotel in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue for the report of a sexual assault. Police say the victim was held against her will and sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance, later identified as Portillo.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, say police.

On Tuesday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Portillo. He was found that evening in Hyattsville, Maryland, and taken him into custody without incident.
