Man arrested after spitting on police officer

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two men were arrested after one of them spat on a police officer during a call for a noise complaint.

Bryant Boyd, 36, and Leonard Navarro, 19, both of Takoma Park, Md., for second degree assault, disorderly conduct and hindering.

On March 20, at approximately 8:45 p.m., police responded to the 8100 block of Roanoke Avenue in Takoma Park, where they advised Boyd and Navarro to cease their disorderly actions, police say. Both Boyd and Navarro began yelling profanities at the officers, which drew a crowd of onlookers.

Boyd, beyond a screen door, spit on one of the officers, police say. After being advised he was under arrest, Boyd refused to exit the home, forcing officers to enter the residence to place him under arrest. Police say Navarro placed himself between the officers and Boyd in an attempt to hinder Boyd's arrest, resulting in his pushing one of the detectives.

Boyd and Navarro were placed under arrest, taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
