Suspect turns himself in after sex offense at college campus

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A suspect wanted for a sex offense by a college campus has turned himself into authorities after seeing his surveillance photo on several media outlets, police said.

Gregory Scott Wheatley Jr., 18, has been charged with 2nd degree assault and 4th degree sex offense after admitting to the incident, police said.

The incident happened on April 7 at the Anne Arundel County Community College located on 101 Crain Highway. A 39-year-old female victim said she noticed an unknown man was following her as she was leaving the college campus. That was around 1:45 p.m. He followed her into the parking garage across the street from the campus. When the male suspect got closer to the victim, he grabbed the female on her rear end and then ran away, police said.
