WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- They are the talk of the world, but 9NEWS NOW is the first newsroom in the world to speak directly with Michaele and Tareq Salahi.

The Virginia couple called 9NEWS NOW's Angie Goff Monday afternoon.

They told Angie what their publicist released, that they they did not cancel their scheduled interview on CNN's Larry King Live to shop their story. They said they are not looking for money for an interview. The Salahis also say they postponed, rather than canceled, the King interview. A producer for Larry King Live confirms this.

As for the invitation to the State Dinner, the Salahis said they will talk about it this week, but cannot right now because of the legal process.

The Salahis say they were very up front with guests, and the people they snapped pictures with about who they were and why they were at the event.

Tareq told Angie Goff, that "We did not crash the White House."

The Salahis have been called to testify Thursday before the House Homeland Security Committee.

The Salahis are scheduled to share their side of the story Tuesday morning on national television.

As mentioned, Angie Goff knows the Salahis on a social basis. Angie and the Salahi's have attended some of the same DC events, including a Halloween party Goff co-hosted for Metromix.
