RIVERDALE HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA) -- A man suffered serious injuries after a pickup truck and a tractor trailer collided Friday afternoon in the 6700 block of Riverdale Road near Veterans Parkway.
Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady said the injured man, about 50 years old, was transported to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body. The victim was the driver of the pickup truck and was trapped inside until rescue workers freed him with hydraulic tools, Brady said.
About 35 gallons of diesel fuel from the 18-wheeler were spread across four lanes of traffic, forcing the road closure between the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Veterans Highway.
Prince George's County Police are investigating the accident.
