OMG! Locals Get Sneak Peak of NEW MOON

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)-- OMG! It's movie Friday with Angie Goff and the buzz is all about New Moon. 

The sequel to the hit teenage vampire movie Twilight opens today and is expected to score one of the biggest opening weekends ever for a non-summer film and will bring in an estimated $100 million world wide. 

Speaking of New Moon, here in the District some very lucky fans got a sneak peak at the new Twilight movie.  Thanks to a Last Chance party held at Beauty 360 in Dupont some won tickets for a special screening at the AMC Uptown before New Moon's release tonight.

I other movie news, The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw also opens today.  The film tells the story of NFL lineman Michael Oher, a once-homeless teen who went on to graduate from college and play professional football. 

Also hitting the big screen, Planet 51.  The tables are turned in this animated sci-fi film, featuring voices of Dwayne Johnson and Jessica Biel. Ab astronaut arrives on a distant planet, but he's not alone; he's surrounded by aliens who desperately fear him...their version of aliens.

Today Angie's ARMY reports from an ARMY post, Fort Belvoir. Milinda Jefferson keeps us tuned in to the latest on Operation Rising Star, the military's version of American Idol. Idol alum turned MTV host Kimberly Caldwell was a guest judge. The results show airs Saturday on The Pentagon Channel.

More music news, we're hearing from Christa Floresca that Pink Jams at the Clarendon Ballroom was a hit! MISS DC 2008 Kate Marie Grinold emceed the charity concert that featured Memphis 59 and the Justin Trawick Band.The night rocked & raised more than $4,000 to fight breast cancer.

OMG intern @scsasha on twitter reports cupcakes and twitter can be addictive and affective in bringing people together. Lots of local webbies gathered at Baked & Wired in Georgetown where writer and scientist Dr. Mark Drapeau (aka @cheeky_geeky) discussed why Social networking are the two dirtiest words in Gov 2.0. His best comment: "It's not who you know; it's who knows you." 

Alright guys eat your heart out with this... tonight the Washington Wizards Girls host their 2010-2011 Calendar Release Party following their shoot in the British Virgin Islands.
