Attempted Rape in Aspen Hill

ASPEN HILL, Md. (WUSA)--Montgomery County Police say they are seeking the public's assistance in locating a man who attempted to rape a woman in Aspen Hill on Saturday evening.

Police say the woman exited a bus at a stop on Bel Pre Road near Grand Pre Road around 7:30pm. An unknown man also got off the bus and followed her toward her apartment complex.

Police say that as they passed a wooded area, the man assaulted the woman and forced her into the woods. The man attempted to rape her but the woman aggressively resisted and the man fled on foot across Bel Pre Road.

According to police officials, the woman was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. 

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 20's between 5"8" and 5'10" in height. He was last seen wearing a red North Face jacket. Any person who may have witnessed the incident or has information on the identity or location of the suspect is urged to call police at 301-279-8000.
