WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - Three workers at the Embassy of Togo were taken to the hospital after they were attacked by a man with a knife Thursday morning. It happened at the Embassy of Togo, on Massachussetts Avenue N.W., at about 11:40 a.m.
Secret Service spokesman Darren Blackford tells 9 News Now that a 31-year-old Togan man named Kokou Bocco, entered the embassy and was inquiring about arrangements to return to Togo. Blackford says at some point Bocco became agitated and slashed the three employees with some type of knife. The embassy workers were able to subdue Bocco until the Secret Service arrived.
The three embassy workers and Mr. Bocco were all taken to George Washington University Medical Center. Their injuries were not thought to be too serious.
Blackford says Bocco faces a single count of aggravated assault, but that it was likely that additional charges would be filed in the case.
