15 Year Old Arrested In Brutal Attacks On Women

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) - A 15 year old Manassas boy has been charged in a series of incidents where women were brutally assaulted.  Police set up surveillance in the Coverstone Drive area after the latest attack, which occurred last Friday, and they arrested the boy on Tuesday.

Because he is a juvenile, police are not identifying the boy at this point, but say he is being held without bond and is awaiting a hearing in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Tuesday evening, shortly before 6:00 p.m., the suspect himself called the police to report an incident, the nature of which police would not discuss. The responding officer was talking to the boy when a call went out about the assault of a woman in the Coverstone Drive area. Based on the look out that was broadcast, the officer noticed that the boy matched the description of the suspect in the latest attack.  

The teen now faces three counts of Abduction, five counts of Malicious Wounding, one count of Sexual Battery, and one count of Attempted Rape.

The series of incidents in which this teen is a suspect goes back to August, and in some cases wwere quite violent.

The first case, on August 26, occurred at about 7:00 a.m., in the 11000 block of Hiram Court.  A 32-year-old woman reported that she was walking her dog on Coverstone Drive when the suspect followed her, knocked her down, and started to hit her. The victim yelled for help and the suspect fled the scene when other people came out to help her.

Then several weeks later on October 6, a woman was assaulted in the 10900 block of Coverstone Drive in Manassas. Police say she had been walking through a path between the shopping center and the apartment building located in the 10900 block of Coverstone Drive. The suspect grabbed the victim, punched her, and attempted to sexually assault her. The 25-year-old woman and was treated at a local hospital for a broken nose, a laceration to her left leg, and several abrasions throughout her body. 

A second incident was reported at about 9:00 p.m. on October 6, in the 7500 block of Clemson Court in Manassas. The victim was sitting her car and the suspect opened the car door, punched her in the face and tried to drag her out of the car. The victim fought the suspect and was able to get away.

On Friday October 30, at around noon, police say a 36-year-old woman was attacked from behind near some stairs in an  apartment building located in the 7700 block of Keara Court in Manassas. The suspect grabbed the victim from the neck and threw her against the wood railing. The victim fought her attacker yelled for help. The suspect ran from the scene.

Tuesday evening at about 6:00 p.m., the police were called to investigate the assault of a 36-year-old woman. The victim waved down the officer when she was in the area of Coverstone Drive and Aaron Drive. The victim reported that she was walking through Barron Park when she was attacked from behind. The suspect began punching and biting her. The victim was able to fight the suspect , free herself then called the police. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

It was the lookout being broadcast in the last case that led to the arrest of the Manassas teen.
