Virginia Student Writes Original Musical

MCLEAN, Vir. (WUSA)  High School students have been performing in musicals for generations.  It is not often they are performing a world premiere, let alone a classmate's work.

"Time's Square 2090" is an original musical written and composed by Langley High School student Wes Brandt.    The 17-year-old vision is set 81 years in the future.  It focuses on a government that has complete control over its citizens.

Brandt's work includes a wide variety of musical styles, including big band, blues, techno dance, rap, and powerful rock.

"Time's Square 2090" is also up for a prestigious Cappie award.  It is the first original musical entry written and composed by a Fairfax County Schools student.
