WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- 9NEWS NOW has learned that Barbara Bullock is out of prison and will become a free woman on Wednesday, November 4th.

The former President of the Washington Teachers Union has only served about 5 years of an original nine year prison sentence for masterminding the theft of nearly $5 million from DC Teachers.

Bullock and her co-conspirators, Gwen Hemphill, the WTU office manager and James Baxter, WTU Treasurer, falsely inflated union dues. Then, they used the embezzled funds to pay for their lavish lifestyles, which included clothes, jewelry, furs, trips, parties and seasons tickets to professional sporting events.

In 2003, Bullock agreed to testify against Hemphill and Baxter. She had her sentence reduced as part of a plea.

Baxter and Hemphill went to trial and were found guilty. They  each have roughly five more years to serve.

Sources confirm that in May, Bullock was released from Alderson prison in West Virginia and sent to a halfway house in Northeast DC.

In October, she was released to home confinement in a private condo in the Watergate at Landmark complex in Alexandria.

Beginning Wednesday, Barbara Bullock, now in her seventies, will be free and wearing an electronic monitoring device under the supervision of the federal parole office in the District.
