Fans And Others Say Redskins Sign Policy Must Go

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- Leonard Forrest is a roving advertisement for the Washington Redskins. He recently bought a burgundy and gold SUV covered with the Redskins logo. He clearly waves the Redskins flag, but the team won't let Forrest wave his own flag.

At Monday's game stadium security prevented this self described "cradle to grave" fan from bringing a small banner to his seat. It simply read, "Where's the offense". Forrest says he understands the sensitivity by the team and its owner to criticism, considering they are two and five for the year.

Team management says the policy started this season of banning banners is meant for safety and to keep unobstructed views for fans. Many fans had their signs dumped into the trash by security, while a few where able to sneak them into the stadium.

Veteran sports public relations maven Charlie Brotman says if Dan Snyder asked him for advice he would tell the owner that policy and many others are not the way to go. Brotman says sports for the fan is about fun and "the signs are part of the fun".

Brotman, of Brotman, Winter, Fried Communications, thinks one of the best things Dan Snyder can do right now is to stop these negative policies and start speaking directly to the fans.
