TAKOMA PARK Md. (WUSA) -- Two suspects who may be linked to a destructive night of smash-and-grab car break ins in Takoma Park have been caught on surveillance tape. Now police are trying to identify them.
The suspects are seen on a retail store video attempting to use a credit card stolen from one of 14 vehicles broken into the night of October 16th.
"This seems to be the crime of choice by a lot of our criminals out there and that's what they're doing all around the metropolitan area," said Takoma Park police chief Ron Ricucci. "We've been hit hard. Since June of this year we've had close to 100 cars getting broken into in the city of Takoma Park."
Police are investigating at least 14 car break-ins that occured the night of October 16th. Thieves made off with GPS devices and other electronics.
Ricucci says they are after items that can be sold without trying to do business in a pawn shop.
