Road Closures In the District And Virginia For Bike DC

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A total of 37 miles of biking -- with no car traffic -- is planned on the routes created for this year's Bike DC.

The routes are available from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the District, parts of Virginia and on the George Washington Parkway. A 12-mile family route is planned along with a more challenging 25-mile route.

Streets will be closed during those hours so visitors and citizens can see the Capitol, monuments, military memorials and other famous sights in DC.

Bike DC participants can take their bikes on Metrorail but only four bikes are allowed in each train car. All riders must wear helmets and children under 15 are free this year.

The following streets will be closed from 7 am to approximately 10 am:

· Constitution Avenue from 9th Street, NW to 2nd & Maryland Avenue, NE (eastbound)

· Maryland Ave, NE from 2nd Street to 1st Street

· Constitution Avenue, NE (westbound) from 1st Street to 15th Street

· 15th Street, NW from Constitution Ave. to Pennsylvania Ave.

The following streets will be closed from 7 am to approximately 10:30 am:

· Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 15th to 21st Street, NW

· 21st Street, NW from Pennsylvania Ave. to Massachusetts Ave. (westbound)

· Massachusetts Ave., NW (westbound) from 21st to 34th Street

· 30th Street, NW from Massachusetts Ave. to Fulton Street

· Fulton Street, NW from Massachusetts Ave to 34th Street

· Klingle Road, NW from 32nd to 34th Street

· Woodley Road, NW from 32nd to 34th Street

· 21st Street, NW from Massachusetts Ave. to K Street

· K Street, Whitehurst Freeway (westbound) from 21st Street, NW to the Key Bridge

The southbound Key Bridge into Virginia will be closed from 7-11 am.

In Arlington The George Washington Memorial Parkway (northbound) from Key Bridge to the Chain Bridge exit will be closed from 7-11 am.

The following streets will be closed from 9:15 am to approximately 12 pm:

· North Lynn Street from the GW Parkway northbound on ramp to Wilson Boulevard

· Wilson Blvd from North Lynn Street to Jefferson Davis Highway, Route 110, Route 1 (northbound)

· Jefferson Davis Highway, Route 110 (northbound) from Wilson Blvd to 15th Street South

· North Marshall Drive from Route 110 to the Marine Corps Memorial

· Washington Blvd, Route 27 from Route 110 to Columbia Pike

· Columbia Pike from Route 27 to the Air Force Memorial

15th Street South from Route 1 to Crystal Drive (southbound) will be closed from 9:30 am to 12 pm.

Event Finish:

Crystal Drive from 15th Street to 20th Street will be closed from 9:15 am to 2 pm.
