
BOWIE, Md. (WUSA) - A teenage boy received serious injuries when he was struck by a car in front of Bowie High School late Friday afternoon.
Prince George's county police say the 13 year old boy was struck and thrown some distance. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene after the collision. The accident occurred in front of the Bowie High school at 15200 Annapolis Road.
Prince George's county Fire department spokesman Mark Brady tells 9 News Now that it happened at about 5:20 p.m. Fire/EMS units from Bowie and Glenn Dale responded to the report of a pedestrian struck, and arrived to find a teenaged male had been struck by a vehicle, sustaining a traumatic head injury in addition to other less serious injuries.
A Maryland State Police Helicopter was requested to the scene to fly the injured teen to an area trauma center that specializes in the treatment of children.
