ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) - Montgomery County Police say they've arrested and charged a physical therapist in Rockville after he sexually assaulted a patient in September.
Arne De Los Reyes, 31, of Ashburn, Virginia, was arrested last Thursday night, and charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual offense (sexual contact without consent). De Los Reyes was released on personal bond on October 2.
On September 16 at 1:05 p.m., officers responded to a woman's home in Rockville for the report of a sexual assault that had occurred earlier. That same day, the victim, a 33-year-old Hispanic female, had driven a patient, who had an 11 a.m. appointment for physical therapy with De Los Reyes, to his office at Schrier Physical Therapy located at 4701 Randolph Road in Rockville.
The victim told De Los Reyes that she was experiencing lower back pain and De Los Reyes offered to treat her without charge. De Los Reyes closed the door to the examining room and engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the victim that was not consistent with accepted treatment. When a knock caused De Los Reyes to open the door, the victim was able to leave the room.
De Los Reyes was placed on administrative leave from Schrier Physical Therapy when the practice was notified of the complaint and he remains on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
Officers investigating this incident want to make certain that there are no other victims. Anyone who believes that he or she had inappropriate contact with De Los Reyes is asked to call Montgomery County Police investigators at 240-773-6084.
