WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- It's easy to say Congress is spending too much money on itself, especially when their annual budget tops $4.7 billion dollars.
And according to Politico, that money will be spent on things like receptions for foreign dignitaries or on postcards about town hall meetings.
Some will be spent on staffers salaries. That's something Congressman Jim Moran defends. He says staffers aren't paid enough for their work and many leave to work in the private sector.
Another $4 million dollars goes to consultants.
David Williams with Citizens Against Government Waste says it's unnecessary spending and that taxpayers won't see the benefits.
But people on Capitol Hill like Edward Roeder, who says he was once a government consultant, say it saves the taxpayers money.
Some of the money will go toward the Rayburn and Cannon Office Buildings, which have had problems with falling marble. Many people say it's fine to spend money there, as long as it fixes the problem.
