FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- The case started as an investigation into thefts at Fairfax High School last year that led to a parent of a 17 year old female student. Forty-three year old Theodore Olds and his daughter are now both charged with gang recruitment and participation.
An affidavit says an informant told police Olds and his daughter were recruiting for the local Elm Street Piru set of the street gang the Bloods. Two students told police members had to pay $80 in monthly dues and that the 6'7" Olds carried a gun and would threaten to hurt them if they fell behind on their payments. To pay the dues, the student said, they were forced to steal.
The Olds lived in a Fairfax City apartment until recently when they moved to a Bristow, Virginia townhouse in Prince William County where they were arrested on Friday.
