(11Alive) -- Google is expected to release 100,000 invitations Wednesday for its latest product, Wave.
The product has been eagerly anticipated among online developers and tech-savvy Internet users. But, the product is expected to be easily used by Internet users of all skill levels.
Google Wave is a platform for hosting online, real-time conversations. "A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more," Google said on it's website.
Wave has been heavily discussed on technology blogs and websites. Many expect that the product could change the way people communicate online in a dramatic way.
There are expected to be far fewer invitations to join Google Wave than there are interested users. Many anticipate that after initial users have been invited, they will be able to send invitations of their own to friends, family members and colleagues. Already, invitations have begun appearing on eBay.com. The bidding on this invites has risen to thousands of dollars.
