WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- She's already put an herb and vegetable garden on the White House lawn; now, First Lady Michelle Obama wants to open a Farmer's Market.

It would take place every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Vermont Avenue NW between H and I, within walking distance of the White House.

The DC Department of Transportation is considering an application from a group called Fresh Farm Market. They're working with the First Lady's office to get the market up and running.

Spokesman John Lisle says they've requested more information from the group about things like who is picking up the tab for lost meter revenue on market days. They also have to consider the impact on GSA employees who park on Vermont along with Ramada Inn guests.

A decision is expected within days. If it's approved, the Market's Grand Opening would be September 17th.
