WASHINGTON (AP) -- Officials say Metro will be reimbursed $3.4 million to cover expenses for President Obama's inauguration.
Metro officials announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Justice notified officials of the reimbursement this week. With the Federal Emergency Management Agency's payment of $475,000, Metro's total federal reimbursement for the event reaches $3.9 million.
Metro officials say the Jan. 20 event produced the highest ridership day in the transit agency's history, totaling 1,544,721 rail, bus and MetroAccess trips.
