MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- Four male students at Stonewall Jackson High School have been charged with vandalizing the parking lot of Sinclair Elementary School. The young men are charged with using landscaping sod to spell out the phrases KKK and White Power. Sod was also used to create a swastika on the parking lot.

Police describe the suspects as black. Given the content of the graffiti, the race of the defendants surprised some Manassas residents who spoke with 9NEWS NOW.

"I think that's, it's very horrible and they should be held responsible for their actions," said one woman who attended both schools.

A school spokesman said the students could face potential disciplinary action within their school, in addition to their criminal liability.
