WASHINGTON (WUSA) - The race is on to see whether work at some DC schools will be finished in time for the start of classes Monday.
In Northeast Washington, PTA members are demanding air quality tests be done before allowing children into Burroughs Elementary. They say many classrooms are unusuable due to recent renovations done inside the school.
Concerned PTA members are asking school officials to conduct air quality tests in the next three days to make sure the school is safe for students.
Some PTA members plan to assemble outside the school in order to discourage parents from leaving they're kids at the school. They also plan to pass out face masks for those who plan to attend classes.
DC school officials say all schools are safe and ready to open for the first day of school.
