MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) - After a month long investigation, Prince William County police raided a store in Manassas Mall and seized what they say are counterfeit designer handbags and other fashion accessories. Police also arrested the proprietor of the store.

At about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, detectives executed a search warrant at Luxury Fashion Accessories Business or "LFA", located in the Manassas Mall at 8300 Sudley Road in Manassas.

The investigation began about a month ago when detectives began looking into complaints of counterfeit merchandise being sold at "LFA" store in the mall. Police say that a variety of what were supposedly 'designer' handbags, jewelry, and accessories were being sold for less than the cost of a legitimate item.

During the raid on Thursday, police say they seized hundreds of items, including purses, earrings, sunglasses, scarves, wallets, necklaces, and other miscellaneous accessories. Police estimated that about $53,000 in merchandise was recovered. Merchandise bearing copies of designer logos such Coach, Dolce & Gabbanna, Gianni Versace, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and D-Cada were seized

The owner of the business, identified by police as Taoufik Lamharhar, 35, of Manassas, was charged with one count of "Infringement". Lamharhar was subsequently released on $10,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in October.

Earlier in the week, police say a detective working undercover purchased counterfeit handbags at "LFA". The undercover detective purchased a fake Coach handbag, a Gianni Versace handbag, one Gucci handbag, and one D-Cada handbag.

Additionally, a 2003 Toyota Echo registered to Lamharhar was seized.

Police say LFA is not affiliated with the mentioned name brands or their copyrighted products.

The investigation continues.
