
WASHINGTON (WUSA) - Police officers in the District were kept busy well past Midnight Wednesday after seven people were shot and one killed in less than 9 hours. Most of the shootings took place in the 7th district.
Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW the first violent incident occurred around 6:00 Tuesday evening when a man was shot and killed in the 1800 block of Gainesville Street southeast. Right now police officials have little information to release on the incident. Right now there is no information available on possible motive or suspects.
Police say a double shooting was reported around 10:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of Birney Place southeast. Two men were found outside with gun shot wounds. Both victims were transported form the scene. One of the men is reported to be in critical condition, the other victim is stable. Officials have no information on possible suspects in the shooting.
Officers responded to another shooting in the 7th district around 11:30 Tuesday night. This time in the 2600 block of Stanton Road southeast. The male victim suffered a non-life-threatening gun shot wound and was transported to a local hospital. Police have little information to release on the suspect in the shooting.
The fourth violent incident was a another double shooting, this time in the 3000 block of 24th Place southeast. The shooting was reported around 2 a.m. Officers arriving on scene found two men outside suffering from gun shot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries. The second victim is expected to recover. Officials have no information to release on suspects or motive in the shooting.
Police also responded to a shooting in the 200 block of W Street northwest around 2:30 a.m. where they found a man who was shot but fortunately only suffered a graze wound.
