WASHINGTON (AP) -- A fourth person has been charged in a bribery and kickback scandal centered in the D.C. government's technology office.
Sarosh Mir, who worked for a D.C. contractor, was charged last week in federal court. The charges against the 44-year-old from Herndon, Va., were revealed in a "criminal information" document that signals a plea agreement is near.
Officials say Mir worked for Sushil Bansal, owner of Advanced Integrated Technologies Corp. The consulting firm had millions of dollars in business with the D.C. government.
Prosecutors say the contractors lied on time sheets and invoices for the D.C. government and obtained contracts for "ghost employees" who did no work. Prosecutors have said the scheme cost the city at least $500,000.
