WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Scores of patients were turned away from a clinic in Southeast, DC today after the FBI entered armed with a search warrant. The clinic is part of a medicaid fraud investigation.
9NEWS NOW talked with surprised clients as they arrived at the Standard Medical Supply or The Pain and Rehab Center on Martin Luther King Avenue. They said the care and service had been good, and no one suspected anything out of the ordinary might be going on.
A spokesperson for the FBI released a statement to 9NEWS NOW that read, "I can confirm the location you provided is where a search warrant was carried out earlier today for Standard Medical Supply as part of a health care fraud investigation."
FBI agents also seized records and computers from a second Medical Supply Office in the 7600 block of Georgia Avenue NW. The phone number for the Georgia avenue offices and the MLK offices are the same.
Efforts to get comments at those offices were unsuccessful.
