FORESTVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- Eastbound Suitland Parkway was closed for several hours early Monday morning due to a fatal car crash. Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW it took crews more than two hours to get a woman out of the car. The road was closed while accident reconstruction teams looked into what happened.
The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. Sunday night along Suitland Parkway between Suitland Road and Forestville Road. Sgt. David Schlosser with U.S. Park Police told 9 NEWS NOW four people were in the car when it went off the road and into a wooded area.
The front seat passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 19-year-old Keyanna Bowser of Capitol Heights, Maryland. Two men riding in the back seat of the car were taken to Prince George's Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Because the car was pinned between two trees, it took Prince George's County fire crews two hours to pull the female driver out of the wreckage whose legs were pinned under the dashboard. A U.S Park Police helicopter took her to Washington Hospital Center with serious injuries.
Around 2:00am, police had secured the scene and fire and rescue crews departed. But the road was due to remain closed as accident reconstruction teams investigated.
