NORTH ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA) -- A woman was beaten and carjacked at a park in Northern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon. It happened in North Arlington around the corner from the East Falls Church Metro Station.

According to witnesses and Arlington County Police, the woman was struck and her 2008, light blue, Volvo convertible was taken at Benjamin Banneker Park adjacent to the W. & O.D. trail. The woman ended up about a third of a mile away at a restaurant on the corner of Lee Highway and Westmoreland Street.

The restaurant's owners describe the woman as a regular customer. She ran into the business around 2:30 p.m. asking people to call 911. The woman did not appear to be seriously hurt.
