WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Parking in Adams Morgan is next to impossible, especially on weekends. Visitors often park in residential neighborhoods, leaving no place for homeowners to park.
Wilson Reynolds with Councilmember Jim Graham's office says a bill is being proposed that would create Enhanced Residential Parking. The idea is to designate certain spots as residential parking only.
"One side of the street is restricted completely for residents, and the other side of the street provides some leeway for visitors to be able to come," he said.
Plus, each household would get a visitor's pass.
"That pass would allow you to give it to, if you have a health care provider, if you have a nanny, if you have a contractor coming to work, if you have a friend coming to visit," Reynolds says.
But not everyone likes the proposal. Ian Estabrook says he has to park in residential neighborhoods during work because there is no place else close.
"Are the residents really home during the day? Do they go to work?" he said. "It's tough on the people that do work in the neighborhood."
