
WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Lavita Middleton got word late Tuesday that the suspect in her daughter's slaying was going free.
Shalita Middleton, a 17-year-old graduate of the District's Wilson High and freshman at Delaware State University was shot and killed two years ago on the campus in Dover. A second student from the DC area, Nathaniel Pugh, was also shot and wounded.
Authorities arrested a student from New Jersey, Loyer Braden. He was held for months, but on Tuesday, a Delaware Judge dismissed the charges saying prosecutors had withheld key evidence from the defense team.
Lavita Middleton, who hadn't spoken to the media till now, told 9NEWS NOW she is unable to get up thinking about what her daughter could have been and what they could have done together.
