ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Defense contractor BAE Systems says it will no longer conduct the kind of testing that caused a small explosion that damaged and forced the evacuation at a neighboring daycare center.
BAE Systems spokesman Barton Greer said Wednesday that the company will continue other work at the Duke Street site.
No one was injured in what Alexandria officials described as a cannon blast at BAE Systems. The company rents space in the same Old Town building as Happy Home Child Learning Center.
About 70 children were in the building when it was evacuated after the blast. The ceiling collapsed in a room where several 18-month-olds were playing.
