NEW CARROLLTON, Md. (WUSA) -- A man wanted for child sex abuse was found dead Tuesday. Police say George Nicholas Kiriacon, 50, of Laurel, was found inside his truck in a garage in the 5700 block of 85th Avenue in New Carrollton Tuesday morning.
Kiriacon was wanted for the sexual abuse of a family friend, which police say happened over a period of four years, from the time the boy was 8 years old. The boy reported to police that he and Kiriacon had engaged in various sexual acts at Kiriacon's Laurel residence. Kiriacon was charged in a warrant with child sexual abuse and various other sex offenses, and with displaying obscene materials to a minor.
Howard County detectives looking for Kiriacon tracked him to the New Carrollton address and contacted Prince George's County Police when they found suspicious circumstances at the home. Prince George's County Police are now conducting an investigation into Kiriacon's death.
Police believe its possible Kiriacon may have victimized other children. The Howard County Child Advocacy Center, a joint effort of police, child protective services and other organizations, offers support services to victims and families. The Child Advocacy Center is encouraging other possible victims to come forward by calling 410-313-2630.
