
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland (WUSA)--On Tuesday, April 21 residents of Montgomery County will go to the polls for the District 4 County Council seat primary.
Polls are open 7am-8pm.
Ten candidates are running for the seat once held by Don Praisner (democrat). Praisner died on January 30th. He took over the seat once held by his wife, longtime Council Member Marilyn Praisner, who died from a heart attack in February, 2008.
There are six candidates seeking the democratic nomination:
Michael Bigler of Silver Spring is a funeral director.
Robert Goldman of Burtonsville is an attorney.
Thomas Hardman of Aspen Hill is an information technology developer.
Benjamin Kramer of Derwood is a District 19 Delegate and a businessman.
Cary Lamari of Norbeck is a former Montgomery County Civic Federation President.
Nancy Navarro of Silver Spring is a Board of Education member.
There are three candidates seeking the republican nomination:
Louis August of Silver Spring is an entrepreneur and non-profit organization executive.
Robin Ficker of Silver Spring is a real estate broker.
Andrew Padula of Silver Spring is a musician, writer and political advisor.
There is also a Green Party candidate seeking the office. He is George Gluck of Rockville. Gluck is an independent consultant.
The general election will be held May 19.
District 4 includes all or partss of Aspen Hill, Burtonsville, Calverton, Cloverly, Colesville, Derwood, Fairland, Olney, Sandy Spring, Silver Spring, Spencerville, Wheaton and White Oak.
