Reston, VA (WUSA) - Fairfax County Police are still searching for a missing family from Reston, Virginia. It's been two days since anyone has seen 37-year-old Amy West and her two children, 6-year-old Maximus James and 1-year-old Jack William West.
"On Wednesday evening, Amy West was supposed to meet with somebody at 8 PM. It was a court ordered thing. It had to do with custody of her children and she didn't show up," says Fairfax County Police spokeswoman, Tawny Wright.
Officers tried to find West at her apartment Wednesday night. Instead, they found her car, her cell phone, her credit cards, and her purse. There was no sign of West or her two children. There was also no sign of a gun that police say West had acquired from a family member a few months ago.
"We don't know if she has it with her or not, but it hasn't been accounted for," said Wright.
Another concern for Fairfax County Police is the fact that West suffers from a mental disorder and they don't know if she's still taking her medication.
"If she needs medication we're just afraid for her safety and for her children," said Wright.
For now, police say they are continuing their search while asking the public for help.
"We're still out looking for her. We just want to know where she is. We just want to make sure that her and her boys are okay," Wright.
