
RADFORD, Va. (WUSA/AP) -- The Radford University website says a lockdown is over, because police have declared the campus is safe. Authorities today students to keep their doors locked as police searched for a man suspected of shooting someone near the campus. Radford Police Chief Don Goodman says the fatal shooting happened around 9 p.m. Thursday. The victim hasn't been identified. The university said in an e-mail that the suspect was seen near the school's Bonnie Hurlbert Student Center. Police set up checkpoints and a command center, and SWAT teams swept academic buildings on campus as they search for the suspect. University police and Radford police are on scene. The man, who was wearing no shirt, a camouflaged jacket, and do-rag, is considered armed and dangerous. He hasn't been seen since the shooting.
