SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a firefighter was injured and several people were displaced when a two-alarm blaze damaged a condominium complex in Silver Spring.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer says the fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Walsh View Terrace by a passer-by. It quickly went to two alarms. Seventy-five firefighters battled the fire and brought in under control in about 20 minutes.
Piringer says all occupants got out safely; firefighters rescued several pets.
Eighteen units were damaged. Piringer says one firefighter was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries; two occupants were also taken to hospitals as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
