
TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA)--Takoma Park Police say that one of their officers shot and wounded a man who had stabbed a woman several times inside her apartment. Police say that at approximately 12:20 AM they received a call from a woman saying that she could hear a woman crying and screaming in the apartment above her, on the 700 block of Hudson Avenue, in Takoma Park. Police say that they dispatched a veterean officer who, upon entering the apartment, found a male holding a knife to the throat of a woman. According to police, the woman had suffered lacerations to the head and body and she was covered in blood. Police say the officer ordered the man to drop the knife but that he refused and continued to threaten the woman. The officer then fired two shots striking the man both times. The woman and the man were transported to MEDSTAR where they are being treated and are expected to survive. Takoma Park Police say that there were 2 children in the apartment at the time of the attack but neither one was hurt. The woman had obtained a restraining order against the man. The officer has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation
