Child Rescued From House Fire

APSEN HILL, Md. --- (WUSA) Montgomery County Fire and Rescue are investigating the cause of a house fire that has left an 8-year-old girl and her 21-year-old uncle hospitalized.

Firefighters responed to a call around 2:20am in the 4500 block of Grenoble Court in Apsen Hill. Upon arrival, firefighters had heavy smoke and fire showing from the basement area.

Two family members heard their 8-year-old neice crying for help. The girl's uncles went back into the burning home and rescued the young girl. She girl was transported to an area hospital and is being treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
