HOLLYWOOD, Md. (WUSA9) --A 28-year-old man is accused of sexually abusing and taking pornographic photos of a child under the age of 10 who he was babysitting, say police.
Police tell us the man had moved into the St. Mary's County home where he was hired to babysit two children. Police say Thursay a woman contacted a trooper to say she had hired a friend to babysit her children while she was at work. Later, the man moved into the home. Police say the woman became concerned about the man's behavior and later found pornographic photos of her grandson on the man's cell phone. She then reported it to police.
Police say they talked to the victim and the man, and served a search warrant at the home. They recovered cell phones and computer equipment belonging to the man. The Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit will complete a forensic examination, according to police.
They so there is no evidence at this time that the man had inappropriate contact with the other child in the home.
The man, who is not being identified in order to protect the children's identities, was charged with sexual abuse of a minor, second degree sexual offense, and possession of child pornography. He is now incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
