WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metropolitan Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened Tuesday morning.
It happened around 6:50 a.m. in the 1600 block of 18th Street, Southeast.
Police say an off-duty female officer used her service weapon to shoot a suspect who tried to rob her, officials said.
The person was shot in the stomach and has been transported. The person's condition is unknown, officials said.
Police are expected to release more details Tuesday afternoon during a press conference.
