ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) - Traffic officials want to remind drivers that the Virginia Department of Transportation will close all lanes on I-95 south just south of the Franconia-Springfield Parkway on Friday night. Officials say crews will close the right lane of I-95 south at 9:30 p.m., a second lane at 11:00 p.m., and all lanes will be closed after midnight.
During the closure, crews will place a 109-ton steel box beam across the 95 south general purpose lanes for a new reversible flyover bridge.
Detours will be in place.
All lanes will be open by 9:00 Saturday morning.
Bridge work will continue over the lanes of I-95 South next week, and will require lane closures and some full road closures at night.
