WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray stood before a crowd at the War Memorial to detail plans for the D.C. Statehood rally this weekend.
The rally is set to happen at 9 a.m. Saturday, and will precede the national commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
Gray asked District residents and others to participate in the rally. The mayor has noted previously that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a staunch advocate of home rule for D.C. residents.
